DISRESPECKFUL
We've all seen them. Those commercials with someone (usually of color) prancing around and/or singing about basic things. It would be understandable if these were professional artists getting endorsements but that is so not the case. I cringe every time I hear these lame public attempts at rapping. It seems that EVERYONE has a rapvertisement these days from fast food to car companies. It's sickening! News flash just because you can rhyme doesn't mean you should rap. They are two completely different things! Professional rappers have to constantly stay fresh and try new things, but they're professionals. When are advertisers going to realize that it's not an effective marketing technique? You don't see them letting random wannabe Miley Cyrus' and American Idol rejects make commercials, so why do it to Hip Hop? It's very disrespectful to the dynamic artists who have struggled to get Hip Hop to its current level. Furthermore who exactly do they think is buying this crap? For future reference corporate America either we'll buy your product or not. Rapping, singing or dancing wont influence that decision unless you're an artist. Here's a thought, try using old people, babies or animals at least that would be entertaining and different!
